- Nov 1011:00 AMCancelled: WilmingtoNColor Fall 2025 Heritage ToursInterested in getting off campus and learning more about Wilmington's history? Would you like to take part in a community engagement experience? If so, consider taking part in an upcoming WilmingtoNColor heritage tour. WilmingtoNColor - or Wilmington in Color - is a shuttle tour of downtown Wilmington that emphasizes the history of Black achievement and resilience in Wilmington. The tour recounts the story of the horrific events in 1898 when an angry mob of white supremacists carried out a massacre, perpetrating the only successful coup d'etat in United States history. From their website, WilmingtoNColor connects "the past with the present, in hopes of rebuilding a future that can reflect what Wilmington, NC looked like before the events of 1898 took place." Additional Information:The tour lasts 75-90 minutes (including the drive to/from campus). Participants will be picked up and dropped off on campus at Kenan Auditorium. The tour is sponsored by UNCW's FREED project and open to undergraduate and graduate students. The tour is free but participants must register in GivePulse. Click here to register (be sure to log in using the Single Sign On - SSO). Space is limited; if you register but are unable to attend, please cancel your reservation so that another student can participate.Hosted by: Campus Life: Student Community EngagementAdditional Information can be found at: https://uncw.campuslabs.com/engage/event/11817639
