UNCW Monitoring Winter Weather Conditions in the Area

UNCW Alert

According to the National Weather Service, winter weather conditions may affect areas near Wilmington Friday evening, Jan. 10. Minimal impacts are expected in the area. Classes for the spring semester are scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 13.

UNCW will continue to monitor winter weather conditions as a precaution. The university does not anticipate cancellations or delays at this time.

Be Safe, Stay InformedMonitor weather conditions and stay alert when driving to Wilmington this weekend for the start of the spring semester. Travel during daylight hours when road conditions can be more readily recognized. Avoid cell phone use; leave early to allow for additional travel time; reduce speed; increase following distance; and be patient. As conditions may vary across the region, please remember to make responsible decisions for your safety. See road condition information from the NCDOT: https://drivenc.gov/.

Updates will be posted as needed to the UNCW homepage, UNCW Alert page, UNCW Mobile and social media feeds (Facebook and X).  These sources of information contain the latest information available to university officials. Monitor your campus email inboxes; messages with a reference to the weather in the subject line merit careful review.

In the event of university-level closings or cancellations, UNCW Alert text messages and the Emergency Information Hotline (1.888.657.5751) will be activated.
