UNCW officials are continuing to monitor Hurricane Milton, which is expected to make landfall in Florida overnight Wednesday into Thursday, according to the latest information from the National Hurricane Center. Currently, the university plans to maintain its normal operating schedule.
There is an elevated risk of rip currents and waves at area beaches in southeastern North Carolina. Please exercise caution if you visit the beach and continue to monitor local weather and surf updates. Heed beach warning flags for your safety.
University emergency responders are working closely with New Hanover County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service in Wilmington to monitor the hurricane’s progress and keep the UNCW community informed.
