Message from Chancellor Volety: Burrus Appointed Interim Provost
Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:
I’m delighted to share that Dr. Rob Burrus has accepted the role of interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. Rob has been a dedicated member of the UNCW community for more than 25 years and has led the Cameron School of Business with distinction for more than a decade.
We worked together as deans in the past, and I look forward to collaborating with him again in this new capacity. His commitment to helping students thrive, along with his support for faculty and strong ties to the community, make him a great fit to lead our academic efforts during this transition. Please see the news announcement for more information.
Additionally, Dr. David Mautz, chair of the Department of Accounting and Business Law, has been appointed to serve as interim dean of the Cameron School of Business. The university plans to conduct a national search for the permanent position of provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. Dr. Christine Reed Davis, vice chancellor for student affairs, will lead the search committee. As plans take shape, the university will share additional information throughout the upcoming academic year.
Please join me in congratulating Rob and David, and supporting their new roles in our university community.
With Seahawk spirit,
Aswani K. Volety
Chancellor
