WITX 2025: Empowering Wilmington's Tech Community

The 19th annual Wilmington Information Technology eXchange (WITX) was held on Tuesday, Feb. 18. This community-based event provided a day of learning and growth for all attendees. Held at Congdon Hall, WITX is a joint venture between UNCW’s Cameron School of Business and College of Science and Engineering.

This year’s WITX focused on “Investing in Yourself to Improve Your Technology Skills," and brought together local and regional information technology professionals, students, faculty and staff to collectively enhance their understanding of leading technologies in the Wilmington, NC region. The Learning eXchange topics included AI in Business and Technology, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics Tools, and Salesforce Admin and Development.

“WITX originally began as a recommendation from the Information Systems Corporate Advisory Board. Since its inception, it has had two main missions,” said Tom Janicki, WITX conference chair and professor of management information systems. “First, the event is intended to foster a dialogue on leading technologies for regional professionals and UNCW students. The second mission is to provide an avenue for networking between our local professionals (especially in the STEM fields) and our students. We see the event as a way for UNCW to continue to engage our local community and learn from each other.”

WITX has partners that help grow the technical acumen of the region and enable a selected number of their employees to attend and expand their knowledge of emerging topics. Eight partners were present, including New Hanover County and Brunswick County.
